Bitphase

About

BitPhase is a modern web-based chiptune tracker designed for creating music for classic programmable sound chips. Its current focus is the AY-3-8910 and Yamaha YM2149F, the sound chips found in computers such as the ZX Spectrum and Atari ST.

BitPhase combines the traditional tracker workflow with modern features including a pattern editor, instruments and ornaments, virtual channels, MIDI keyboard input, real-time oscilloscopes and project backup. It can import Pro Tracker 3 (.pt3) and Vortex Tracker II (.vt2) modules and export formats including WAV, PSG, TMR and SNDH.

Rather than being a recreation of a particular historical tracker, BitPhase is a modern tracker inspired by the capabilities and limitations of retro sound hardware. It is therefore particularly interesting for musicians working with the AY/YM sound family and for Atari ST music production. The project is open source and additional sound-chip support is planned.
