Microtone

About

Microtone is a music tracker for the notes a piano cannot play. Every pitch sits on a grid of 4096 steps per octave, so 19-TET, 31-TET, Bohlen–Pierce, just intonation and the twelve lü are all first-class — written in their own notation, not as detuned semitones.

It runs entirely in your browser. No install, no account, no server: your projects stay in your machine's private storage, and module and MIDI conversion, SoundFont loading, sample editing and WAV export all happen on your own hardware.

Notes are placed, not just panned: each voice is a source at an angle and a height, auditioned over headphones as you write, and a finished song exports as ambisonic B-format as readily as stereo.
