About
CheeseCutter SID Editor is a music editor which emulates the Commodore 64 designed specifically for composing music using the machine's legendary SID (Sound Interface Device) sound chip. Unlike traditional sample-based trackers such as ProTracker or FastTracker II, CheeseCutter works directly with the SID's synthesizer capabilities, allowing composers to create authentic C64 music without using sampled instruments.
It is particularly popular among the C64 demoscene and retro game developers because it combines a modern editing workflow with efficient playback routines suitable for real Commodore 64 hardware.
