Orfeus Music Assembler is a music editing software developed for the ZX Spectrum 48K, released in 1990. It was designed to address the limitations of existing music programs like WHAM and MUSIC STUDIO by offering enhanced functionality for music creation.

The program allows users to compose two-voice melodies with drum accompaniment, treating the drums as a third voice. Unlike WHAM, Orfeus offers flexibility in note length, including whole, half, and sixteenth notes, and allows independent setting of speed, key signatures, and decay times for each bar and voice.

Orfeus provides a comprehensive editor where users can manage their compositions efficiently. The screen is divided into three sections for commands, numerical indicators, and the main note and drum notation area. The cursor navigates these areas for smooth editing and composition.

The software supports importing melodies from WHAM, converting them for use in Orfeus. Once a composition is complete, it can be compiled into a machine code routine that is relocatable, offering flexibility in its application within other programs.
